THE METABOLATORS was David Yukovich's follow-up to
DEATH BY CHOCOLATE.
Released in November 1996, the story focused on the town of
Asplundah (a small villa that was transformed into chocolate
in the first DBC story) and a trio of eerie beings known as the
Metabolators. The creatures were developed by the US
Army's War Department and originally used by the Allied
forces in World War II. The Metabolators are charged with
making Asplundah disappear, the only way they know how.
A back-up story entitled Indecision briefly caps the chocolate
man's origin, and provides an introspective glimpse into his
life. This tale cemented "Agent Swete" as an official member
of the FBI's Food Crimes Division.
Both THE METABOLATORS and INDECISION are appearing
in the upcoming DEATH BY CHOCOLATE: REDUX collection.
All of the art has been extensively reworked and redrawn,
making this compilation a must-have for any DBC fan.
